Markus Kunart

Apprentice as Industrial Clerk in the Warsteiner Administration

Since 2014, Markus Kunart is an apprentice as an industrial clerk at the Warsteiner Brewery. Before joining the program, he had already completed a practicum in the human resource department. Afterwards, it was obvious to him: I want to join the Warsteiner Brewery full-time. In addition to his 3-year training, Markus actively participates in a comprehensive, autonomous apprenticeship program sponsored by the German health insurance company BARMER GEK, called “Moveguide.” This program supports corporate health initiatives for the entire workforce.

What makes you so enthusiastic about your job at Warsteiner?

I am a person who likes to look for challenges and this is exactly what is available to me here in many different ways every day.

We as apprentices get the chance to fully develop our potential and to keep growing.

Furthermore, we have the opportunity to join long-term projects where you can learn a lot, e.g. the nationwide “Moveguide” project or the design and maintenance of our apprentice blog. I really appreciate this type of variety.

What is important for you in your work?

It is important for me that I am recognized and that I feel comfortable with my colleagues. Before my apprenticeship, I never thought about the term “Family-run enterprise.” These days, it is an essential characteristic of our company. You just feel the long-standing family tradition, the appreciative, familiar social interaction, from the janitor to the management.

What is important for you in your work environment?

Of course, my direct colleagues are very important. Not just during work time, but we also get together after work; for instance, in the company recreational groups to play soccer. Together with other apprentices, we regularly organize meetings, excursions or parties, which are great fun but also foster the feeling of togetherness.
